Levan Bezhashvili: Now it is not relevant to talk about the distribution of parliamentary positions and powers

Now it is not relevant to talk about the distribution of parliamentary positions and powers, - National Movement MP Levan Bezhashvili told journalists, responding to the legislative proposal of Eka Gigauri of Transparency International - Georgia, which refers to the redistribution of powers in the Parliament as provided for by the Charles Michel document.

Bezhashvili states that while the majority creates an artificial barrier to their proposals, and there is only a year left before the elections, it will be irrelevant to talk about the distribution of powers.

“According to my information, the National Movement, as well as other parliamentary groups, do not have the political will to redistribute powers within the framework of this Parliament. Charles Michel's document provided for the implementation of the relevant changes in 2020, but now it is irrelevant to talk about the redistribution of parliamentary positions and powers, while the Parliament, thanks to Georgian Dream, has actually lost its function. In this light, when there is a year left before the parliamentary elections, I think it will not be reasonable to support and adopt this initiative. However, this principle can be adopted for the next convocation of the Parliament", said Bezhashvili.

For information, the legislative proposal of Eka Gigauri, which refers to the distribution of powers, will be considered by the Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules today.
