Chairman of United Airports: Not a single airport in Georgia will serve any sanctioned aircraft or airline

Allowing that a sanctioned plane may fly here does not mean that we will serve it - not a single airport in Georgia will serve any sanctioned aircraft or airline, - Chairman of the United Airports of Georgia Irakli Karkashadze said.

According to him, one of the reasons why sanctioned aircrafts are not received is security, because their manufacturing company has limited maintenance services of aircrafts due to sanctions.

"The Government of Georgia has decided that no sanctioned airline will enter the airports of Georgia. The second thing I want to emphasize is that aviation is a highly regulated industry, and just because a sanctioned plane can fly down here does not mean that we will serve it. I emphasize once again that not a single airport in Georgia, not Tbilisi, Kutaisi, or Batumi, will serve any sanctioned aircraft or airline. Those companies that have been authorized by the Civil Aviation Agency, and this is the sole prerogative of the Aviation Agency, are not sanctioned by either the United States of America or the European Union.

The Civil Aviation Agency is guided by international principles and standards, on the basis of which it issues permits, therefore, if the Civil Aviation Agency has issued a permit, I am sure that all the international standards that exist are met", said Irakli Karkashadze.
