After Bidzina Ivanishvili and Georgian Dream came to power, Georgia has not lost a single piece of land, Georgia has had no war, no conflict, no tension. Our government has done its best to ensure that today we have a peaceful period in the country, this is a continuous peaceful, stable period, said the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili in his speech at the forum dedicated to the Day of the Georgian Diaspora.
According to Gharibashvili, during every administration, there were destabilization, conflicts, wars in the country and Georgia lost territories.
"I would like to once again wish everyone peace, stability, prosperity and unity. Yesterday, in my speech, I formulated the main, in my opinion, goal and national idea around which we should all unite. This is the unification of our country. Without the unification of our country, our country cannot be the way we want it to be, the way we imagine it to be, a united, European-type state.
What has the government been doing for the last 10 years? Our government has done its best to ensure that we have a peaceful period in the country today, this is a continuous peaceful period, a continuous stable period, which unfortunately, we have not had since we regained independence. We had civil wars, we had a war in Abkhazia, Ossetia, we temporarily lost territorial control over our indigenous historical territories, and finally, we managed to directly engage with the number one nuclear state in the world, we could not avoid their provocations and we had a direct war. Now, I would like to remind once again among them, our opponents, if we look at the last 30 years, during all governments, there was destabilization, conflicts, wars, loss of territories in the country.
Look at the period under our rule, since Bidzina Ivanishvili and Georgian Dream came to power, Georgia has not lost a single piece of land, Georgia has had no war, no conflict, no tension of any kind. We managed to maintain, strengthen and create stability, which is the main foundation. Which diaspora representative would come, if there was a war here, which diaspora representative would think to come to Georgia, start production, develop business, etc. That would be incredible. I think this is a solid foundation that we have created for everyone, for our fellow citizens living inside the country, or for the diaspora living outside the borders," Gharibashvili said.
According to him, the rhetoric of nuclear war is back.
"Today, it is the most difficult period, the most difficult geopolitical situation in the whole world. Without exaggeration, the world is facing the threat of nuclear war. This is not someone's invention, we listened to the leaders of the nuclear states, their rhetoric, their threats - the rhetoric of nuclear war is back, which is very dangerous. In such a situation, in our country - I want to ask everyone - how should the government of a small but proud country, the proud Georgian people, act?! It is our direct duty, our direct responsibility, first of all, to think about the survival of our country, the protection and security of our citizens. I think we are doing this very successfully and we will continue to fulfill this obligation and lead the country to peace. We will not allow anyone to bring anxiety, disorder, destabilization to the country, there were too many attempts, I don't want to talk about it anymore. The country and our government managed to avoid our country's involvement in this big, destructive war and conflict," Gharibashvili said.
