Pawel Herczyński: We desperately need positive good news coming out of Georgia in order to create a positive atmosphere when it comes to the future of EU-Georgia relationship

We desperately need positive good news coming out of Georgia in order to create a positive atmosphere when it comes to the future of EU-Georgia relationship, - Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia Pawel Herczyński told journalists.

“I have expressed my personal opinion loudly and clearly, but unfortunately the decision is not in my hands. The decision is not in the hands of my superiors. It's not in the hands of European Union institutions. The decision about the next steps when it comes to the EU-Georgia relationship is in the hands of 27 EU member states, at the highest political level. So in December, 27 presidents and prime ministers will meet and they will discuss and they will decide, and what is very important to know is what I repeat again and again, that this decision will be based on unanimity, which means that every single member state will have to agree on next steps in EU-Georgia relationship.

There is still time till December, there's still half a year, so we really expect progress on 12 priorities, as much progress as possible. And we also desperately need positive good news coming out of Georgia in order to create a positive atmosphere when it comes to the future of EU-Georgia relationship”, said the Ambassador.
