Salome Zurabishvili: You cannot be a country that aspires to become a member of the European Union and every other day curse the EU ambassador, European parliamentarians, our partners, and accuse them of wanting a war

The European Union is historically the first organization where everyone wants to join on their own free will. Not because someone hits you on the head or forces it in different ways, but because people want to. We are an example of this. We, people want the government to comply, if it does not comply with these recommendations, the commission will say its own word, - the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, said during a meeting with the media.

As the President noted, a country that wants to join the European Union cannot insult the EU ambassador.

"The second challenge is the messages and rhetoric coming from the government, the majority, I don't know whether from Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili as well, which is completely unacceptable. You cannot be a country that aspires to become a member of the European Union and every other day curse the EU ambassador when he leaves the country, which also has nothing to do with our politeness or hospitality, and daily criticize the European parliamentarians, our partners, and accuse them of wanting a war because they are the "party of war".

The European Union was created to stop war on the continent between the European countries, and indeed it succeeded in doing so between the countries that are part of this vast union. The European Union is historically the first organization where everyone wants to join on their own free will. Not because someone hits you on the head or forces it in different ways, but because people want to. We are an example of this. We, people want the government to comply, if it does not comply with these recommendations, the commission will say its own word”, said the President.
