If the issues related to the court, corruption, and freedom of speech are not resolved, Georgia will lose a historic chance, but Georgian Dream is not worried about this - they told us that political partnership with China is important, Strategy Builder MP Paata Manjgaladze said while commenting on the EU report.
According to him, instead of fulfilling the recommendations, Georgian Dream is trying to do the opposite.
"Regarding the EU report, you know that the main problem of this country, along with freedom of speech and government seizure, is the court and issues related to justice. Under the conditions of Georgian Dream, the court does not have independence, it is used as a tool of political persecution. We have seen a number of politically motivated cases and of course, our Western partners have a reaction to this. If the issues related to the court, corruption, freedom of speech are not resolved and the recommendations are not implemented, Georgia will lose a historic chance, but Georgian Dream is not worried about this. It is doing everything to miss this historic opportunity and instead of Europe and the US, they announced that political partnership with China was important for them. It turns out that China's governance experience is needed, the Communist Party must rule the country, and they don't need any democracy, because in the conditions of Chinese and Russian "democracy", Ivanishvili will maintain power eternally. This is their task and they are not interested in what Georgia will do," Manjgaladze said.
The European Union published the 2022 report on the state of human rights and democracy in the world. According to the report, overall Georgia has a solid human rights framework, including legislations and policies in line with international and European standards. However, implementation should be strengthened in several areas.
