From December 1, 2020 to July 12, 2023, Georgian citizenship was granted to 11,007 people

From December 1, 2020 to July 12, 2023, a total of 11,007 people were granted Georgian citizenship.

Information about this was provided to IPN by the Ministry of Justice based on a request for public information.

According to the data sent by the agency, the highest number (3,995) of cases of granting Georgian citizenship was observed in 2022, while in 2020, citizenship was granted to 1,838 persons, in 2021 - to 2,847 persons, and by July 12, 2023, to 2,327 persons.

It should be noted here that from December 1, 2020 to July 12, 2023, Georgia's citizenship was granted to at least 10 people under a special rule, and in 2021, there was no case of granting citizenship under a special rule at all.

In the same period, 18 people were granted Georgian citizenship in the usual manner, and 25 people received Georgian citizenship in a simplified manner. 60 persons were granted Georgian citizenship according to the procedure of restoration, and in 5173 cases the temporary right to restore Georgian citizenship was used.

From 2020 to July 12, 2023, the most (5721) people received Georgian citizenship in an exceptional manner, according to the available statistics, the most (2005) cases of granting citizenship in an exceptional manner were recorded in 2022.

In addition, in response to the public information request by IPN to indicate which countries the people who received Georgian citizenship were from, the Ministry of Justice stated that the information regarding ethnic origin is not recorded in the "State Services Development Agency".
