Dmitry Medvedev at the meeting with Aslan Bzhania and Alan Gagloev: We are waiting for an important date - the 15th anniversary of the recognition of the independence of "South Ossetia" and Abkhazia by Russia

The Deputy Head of the Russian Security Council Dimitry Medvedev met with the lso-called eaders of occupied Abkhazia and "South Ossetia", Aslan Bzhania and Alan Gagloev. The Russian state news agency "Ria Novosti" reports about this.

"We are waiting for an important date - the 15th anniversary of the recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia by Russia. It was not the easiest decision that Russia made in 2008, but it ensured peace in the Caucasus, ensured the life and health of the residents of the republics and the fulfillment of great tasks," said Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Head of the Russian Security Council.

In his opinion, since then, the relations between Russia and the two so-called republics are developing well.

The so-called president of occupied Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania thanked Medvedev "for his enormous contribution to the development of the Abkhazian statehood".

The so-called occupied president of the occupied Tskhinvali region Alan Gagloev also thanked Medvedev "for the decisions taken in 2008", which, according to him, "made it possible to stop Georgian aggression".
