Irakli Kobakhidze: Salome Zurabishvili has taken an oath before the Constitution, but she is blatantly violating it, which is a very serious fact and we cannot leave it without a response

It is clear that the Constitution is being violated by the President of Georgia, she has taken an oath before this Constitution, however, she is violating it, which is a very serious fact and we cannot leave it without a response, chairman of Georgian Dream Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

According to him, Georgia is a parliamentary republic, where the executive power, domestic and foreign policy of the country is carried out only by the Government of Georgia, and the President is not part of the executive power, therefore, she does not participate in the implementation of foreign policy.

"Besides, more specifically, the Constitution of Georgia states that the President is authorized to carry out representative relations in foreign policy and also to engage in international negotiations only with the approval of the Government, therefore, it is clear that the Constitution is being violated very grossly by the President of Georgia, she has taken an oath before this Constitution, but she is blatantly violating it, which is a very serious fact and we need an appropriate response to this, we cannot leave it without a response," said Irakli Kobakhidze.

As for whether the question of impeachment is possible, Irakli Kobakhidze said that impeachment needs 100 votes and Salome Zurabishvili has the hope of the collective National Movement and guarantees from their patrons, and without this guarantee she would not have violated the Constitution.

"I would not say that this is a very important topic, we already know that Salome Zurabishvili opposes the country's interest in European integration, it does not matter if she makes statements against European integration in the Georgian Parliament building or during a foreign visit. This information is already going to our international partners. You remember that from the building of the Parliament of Georgia, she directly opposed our European perspective, in particular, she said that Georgia did not deserve the status of a candidate last year, and moreover, she said that this year the reforms provided for in the EU documents are only formally implemented, therefore, it turns out that that in her opinion, Georgia does not deserve the status of a candidate this year either. When our European partners know very well about such messages, it seems that the President of Georgia is in direct conflict with our European perspective. As for the reaction, one, the theoretical reaction mechanism is impeachment, and of course, if we go to the Constitutional Court, the court will very easily determine that the Constitution of Georgia is violated here, based on a direct textual interpretation, it would be very easily determined, however, you know that impeachment needs 100 votes and of course Salome Zurabishvili hopes for a collective UNM. Without this guarantee, she would not have grossly violated the Constitution. She has guarantees from their patrons. Salome Zurabishvili and UNM have common patrons, and Salome Zurabishvili has received guarantees from them, otherwise she would not have risked and violated the Constitution so blatantly. The public is probably more or less aware of who we might be referring to. This is the party of global war," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
