Former Public Defender Nino Lomjaria has created a public platform - European Orbit of Georgia.

As Nino Lomjaria told InterPressNews, the purpose of the said platform is to give citizens the opportunity to contribute to the formation of Georgia's future development visions through their own activism.

"Our goal is to create a civil platform that will give an opportunity to professionals from various fields, who are busy with their own work, but are interested and concerned about Georgia's perspective, European future, development of Georgia, to engage in civil activism and contribute to the formation of visions of Georgia's future development, to contribute to the European integration of Georgia with their own activities. It is a platform not only for professionals in a specific field and prominent or successful people, but also for any citizen who is looking for a platform and an opportunity for his own activism to transform this public energy into actions that will support the European integration of this country and move us forward in this process. Our first activity is the following: to support and work together to obtain candidate status from the European Union. There are a few months left and as there is a rather difficult political situation, polarization of the society, etc., we, with our activities, want to consolidate public opinion about how important it is to get the status”, said Lomjaria.

When asked whether she intends to cooperate with politicians, Lomjaria said that the platform was civil, although they were ready to share their views with any party.

"This is a civil platform and we want it to be positioned like that, although we can share our visions with any party, any politician, be it the opposition or the government, we welcome if they share these sentiments. It is our goal to have a positive impact on the public political agenda," said Nino Lomjaria.

As for the possibility of the European Orbit of Georgia becoming a political party in the pre-election period, Lomjaria said that this was not planned.
