Peace is of great importance for Georgia and we are aware of the high price of the conflict, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili said in his speech at the event dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the operation of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia.
According to the Prime Minister, since 2012, the government has continuously and successfully maintained peace and stability for ten years, which is a foundation for economic progress.
"We are ready to improve the quality of life for all citizens of Georgia, including those in the occupied territories.
The invasion of Russia in 2008 had severe consequences for our people. The unstable situation due to Russian aggression and the war in Ukraine reminds us of the need for peace and conflict resolution in Eastern Europe, including the Russia-Georgia conflict. The involvement of the EU Monitoring Mission in this process is really crucial, and we hope that sooner or later we will be able to achieve this goal.
In conclusion, let me express our readiness and full support for the EU Monitoring Mission. We stand at a crucial moment for our common European future and express our sincere gratitude to the European Union, the EU Monitoring Mission team and all the people who supported it.
