According to the Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze, a new, small penitentiary facility will be built in Rustavi.

In addition, as he noted during his speech at the conference - "Innovations in the process of rehabilitation and resocialization of convicts and probationers", another penitentiary facility for 700 prisoners will be opened in a few days.

"In a few days, we will open the new penitentiary facility in Laituri, which is designed for 700 prisoners. This facility meets all modern, high-level standards. Also, as a result of the active support of the government, we started the construction of a new penitentiary facility in Rustavi. It will be the so-called small type of facility, which is considered to be one of the highest-level of achievements in terms of penitentiary institutions in the modern world, because it is more efficient, easier to manage. Also, here the rights of prisoners are protected to a higher degree. In 2024, we will have such a unique penitentiary facility in Georgia," said Bregadze.
