Parliament’s plenary session starts with commotion

The plenary session of the Parliament started with controversy. The reason for the controversy was the insulting statement made by the head of the Defense and Security Committee, Irakli Beraia, at the session two days ago.

The first item to be discussed on the agenda of today's plenary session was the changes planned to be made to the Defense Code.

As opposition MP Aleko Elisashvili said, it is shameful that the changes to the Defense Code are discussed when the relevant committee of the parliament is headed by Irakli Beraia. He called Beraia disgraceful.

"You are a disgraceful man, step down!" Elisashvili addressed Beraia.

On his part, the Chairman of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, called on his colleagues to calm down. According to his instructions, Aleko Elisashvili was made leave the meeting hall.

"Leave the hall, you are expelled from the hall," said Papuashvili.
