From next year, the Youth Agency will be added to the Ministry of Education and Science as a new direction.

As the Minister of Education and Science, Giorgi Amilakhvari, said after the end of the government session, after the implementation of the relevant legislative changes, the name of the ministry will be the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth.

"Today we discussed transferring the Youth Agency from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth to the Ministry of Education and Science. During the deliberations of the government, such a decision was made since we in the Ministry of Education and Science, within the framework of our programs, starting with school, vocational education and higher education, we already have components, which, of course, besides education, include various activities. In general, we will already include education and youth policy in our programs and ministry. Therefore, we consider it relevant that due to the proximity of youth policy and education, the activity of this agency should continue in the Ministry of Education and Science. As a result, the list of draft laws will be submitted to the Parliament and a new ministry will be established from next year - the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, to which the Youth Agency will be added," said Giorgi Amilakhvari.

According to him, the legislative changes should be implemented within the current session, and the Youth Agency will be transferred to the Ministry of Education and Science from January 1.

"We will present the updated action plan to the society and our youth in the near future. Along with the education policy, we will offer quite an academically, cognitively and state-updated program, activities, and I am sure everyone will enjoy participating in these activities. This decision was taken by the government today. This will not happen in the spring session, it will be forwarded now. If it succeeds, it will be considered by the Parliament in an accelerated manner, since we want the authority of this agency to be transferred to the Ministry of Education and Science from the first of January. As for the news, I will emphasize that during the interaction with the students of higher and vocational schools, with school students, high school students, we take into account the improvement of the youth component in all programs, according to the levels. Consequently, the agency's services that it has will naturally be more sophisticated, improved and strengthened than before and will be directly aligned with the educational policies and programs that the Ministry of Education is already implementing. This was one of the reasons why the Youth Agency was considered to be close to education sector. Otherwise, it functioned very successfully in the ministry where it is now," said Amilakhvari.
