Davit Matikashvili: It is not up to the strategic partners or any other nations or states to decide what the picture will be like in the Parliament of Georgia after the 2024 elections

It is not up to the strategic partners or any other nations or states beyond the border to decide what the picture will be like in the Parliament of Georgia after the 2024 elections, said Davit Matikashvili, a member of the parliamentary majority, responding to Zurab Japaridze's statement that the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State expressed interest during a meeting with the opposition in how the Georgian opposition views the issue of coalition government.

According to Matikashvili, it is none of their business what the government will be like after the elections.

"Relationship with our strategic partner and its deepening is very important, which is being very consistently carried out by the government of Georgia. However, it is radically another issue who the Georgian society will support in the elections, how the Parliament of Georgia will be formed and, accordingly, the what the government be like after the elections. It is not up to our strategic partners or any other nations or states beyond our borders to decide what the final picture will be after the 2024 elections in the Parliament of Georgia. No matter how good wishes drive them, and I am deeply convinced that they have such wishes, the final decision is made by our society, whether the government will be a coalition, united or of what kind, it is up to the society, therefore, our strategic partners must accept the decision that the Georgian society will make during the elections," Matikashvili said.
