Romeo Mikautadze: It is important that the infrastructure of Telas meets the winter season in a technically sound manner

First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Romeo Mikautadze visited the renovated substation of JSC "Telasi" and heard information from the company's managers about the work already done and planned for continuous energy supply of Tbilisi. The information is distributed by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. According to their reports, the rehabilitation of the substation "Sanapiro" was on the agenda after the number of consumers in the said energy node increased significantly.

The first deputy minister received detailed information about the ongoing and planned works in other key stations of the city from the company's managers. It was noted that the reconstruction of the substations allows Telas to fully and efficiently distribute the increased capacity, in addition, work is also underway to diversify the power supply sources, which, ultimately, will ensure continuous energy supply of the capital. About 750,000 subscribers are supplied with electricity through the infrastructure of "Telas" company. Both in this and other substations, the company has carried out large-scale rehabilitation, which will continue in the future.

As a result, the population of both Saburtalo and other areas of the city will have a more stable energy supply. It is important that for the winter season both the existing infrastructure is technically correct and the company is ready for any technical challenges. We saw that Telas is prepared in this regard as well," said Romeo Mikautadze. As for the "Saburtalo" substation, due to the systematically increasing consumption in the mentioned node, the installed capacity of the substation increased to 50 megawatts in 2017 and 2021. As a result, two new 25 MW power transformers were installed instead of two 16 MW power transformers existing at that time.

The purpose of carrying out the mentioned works is to increase the efficiency and reliability of the electricity supply of the Saburtalo districts of Tbilisi, as well as to increase the capacity for the further development of the city's electricity network.
