GeoStat executive director: The population census is not related to the elections - we will not engage in any political activity

The population census is not related to the elections - we will not engage in any political activity, - the executive director of the National Statistical Office of Georgia, Gogita Todradze, said at the 2023 summary briefing.
According to him, the general census of the population will be conducted in November-December 2024, and the preliminary results will be published approximately 6 months after the census.
"We will not engage in any political activity. We are an independent legal entity under public law, and each of our actions is aimed at strengthening the confidence among users that any activity we plan, or conducted, does not have a political interest. Therefore, if we conduct any survey, it will in no case become the basis of any political activity, therefore, we will not have anything to do with the elections.
During 2023, we visited practically all densely populated cities and districts. We identified buildings and facilities in the country and determined how many people live there permanently, temporarily, etc. This was necessary from the point of view that we are getting prepared for the population census in 2024. We are now actively working on the questionnaire and the methodology to be used to collect the information. Census will be held in November-December. In about 6 months, in June 2025, we will announce the preliminary results, and then, no later than 18 months after the census, we will publish detailed information," Gogita Todadze said.
