Paata Imnadze: Negotiations are underway to introduce new vaccines to the country, which will be adapted to new strains of the coronavirus - the rate of spread of the coronavirus in Georgia today is 3%

New strains of coronavirus (JN.1 and HV.1) have not been detected in the country - they have no difference in severity from their predecessors. Perhaps the only one is more characterized by gastrointestinal symptoms, namely diarrhea, Paata Imnadze, deputy director of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, said in an interview with IPN.
As Paata Imnadze noted, at this stage, negotiations are underway to introduce new vaccines to the country, which will be adapted to new strains of coronavirus.
"We know that only 50% of the population has been vaccinated against the coronavirus. Such incompetent anti-propaganda went on vaccines that we did not reach the target rate we wanted. Negotiations are now underway to introduce new vaccines to the country, which will be adapted to new strains of coronavirus.Today, we have very few cases of coronavirus, however, it is worth noting that the course is characterized by waves. 3% is the rate of spread of coronavirus today.
As for new strains of coronavirus (JN.1 and HV.1), these strains have not yet been detected in the country. Its clinical course does not differ from its predecessors in terms of severity. Perhaps the only one is more characterized by gastrointestinal symptoms, namely diarrhea. It should be noted that it has more potential to spread. In general, there is never a reason to panic, everything needs a rational approach. It is always good to protect ourselves as much as we can, to wear a mask, to wash our hands, whether it is a coronavirus or another infection," said Imnadze.
