The Embassy of Poland in Georgia disseminates information about the victims of the Soviet regime in the social network and attaches the photo where Joseph Stalin is depicted on the icon of Matrona of Moscow located in the Trinity Cathedral.
The embassy publishes a statement about this on the social network.
"The Polish Institute of National Memory determined the total number of Polish citizens who became victims of the Soviet regime - 1.8 million. 150 thousand of them died. Most of them were repressed in 1939-1941, when about 1.6 million people suffered as a result of punitive operations. About 200,000 Poles followed in the repressions of 1944-1952. Researches are still ongoing," the Polish Embassy said in a statement on the social network.
For information, there is an icon of the Holy Matrona in the Trinity Cathedral, on which Joseph Stalin is depicted. The icon was painted yesterday.
