The Ministry of Defense of Russia conducted "anti-terrorist exercises" in occupied Abkhazia, the Russian Defense Ministry reports.
According to the Ministry, at the military base of the Southern Military District stationed in Abkhazia, "an exercise was conducted to repel the attack of simulated illegal armed groups".
"The personnel were given various tasks to perform in an environment as close as possible to a combat situation. To create a situation as close as possible to the real one, the military personnel used empty cartridges, smoke bombs and simulated grenades," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
According to the agency, special attention was paid to the practice of the action necessary for the implementation of the blockade, as well as to the hidden movement in small groups.
