Prime Minister: Thanks to the leaders of the European Union, who supported the historic decision - granting Georgia the status of a candidate country is the greatest achievement of our government

Once again, I would like to use this opportunity to publicly thank all the leaders of the European Union, who supported the historic decision - granting Georgia the status of a candidate country for the European Union. This is the greatest achievement of our government, - the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, said at the panel discussion held within the framework of the Davos Economic Forum - "New Dawn of Eurasia?"

According to the head of the government, since coming to power in 2012, the government of Georgia has made great efforts and made great progress on the path of integration into the European Union.

"Once again, I would like to use this opportunity to publicly thank all the leaders of the European Union who supported the historic decision - granting Georgia the status of a candidate country for the European Union. This is the greatest achievement of our government, because since coming to power in 2012, we have made great efforts and made great progress on the path of integration into the European Union. This involves the signing of an association agreement with a deep and comprehensive free trade area, a visa-free travel regime. The culmination of all this was this decision, when Georgia became a candidate country for the European Union.

Also, I would like to mention very briefly that since we came to power in 2012, Georgia's economy has doubled in US dollars. For example, only in the last three years the gross domestic product (GDP) per capita and in US dollars has doubled, in 2020 the per capita GDP of Georgia was almost 4250 US dollars, and this year it will be 8600 US dollars.

It was the latest information and data about the current processes in the country. I thank you once again for this opportunity", said the Prime Minister, whose statement was released by the press office of the Georgian Government Administration.
