Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Giorgi Kalandarishvili met with President and Executive Director of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) Anthony Banbury. The current election issues were discussed at the meeting, which was also attended by Renata Levovski, head of IFES's Georgian representation.

Giorgi Kalandarishvili provided representatives of the organization with detailed information about the process of preparation for the October 26 elections, activities that the CEC is carrying out to organize the elections at a highly professional level. All the needs that CEC is facing at this stage were also discussed.

The meeting emphasized the long-term successful cooperation between the CEC and the International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES) and the importance of continuing this good practice in the future, as well as the contribution of IFES to the support of the election administration and the development of the election processes in the country. Possibilities of future cooperation were discussed.

"A very interesting meeting was held. In general, it should be said that there is a practice of many years of successful cooperation between the Election Administration of Georgia and the International Fund for Election Systems, and this meeting is an echo of this cooperation. It should be noted that IFES is one of our reliable and important international partners. At the meeting, we talked in detail about the work the CEC is doing to ensure that the October 26 elections, which allow 90% of Georgian voters to vote using electronic technologies, are organized at a highly professional level. We reviewed all the needs that our agency faces at this stage and, of course, we discussed the possibilities of future cooperation. At the same time, we talked about all the issues that are implemented with the support of IFES and emphasized the importance of this support. I think our cooperation will deepen and strengthen in the future," said Giorgi Kalandarishvili after the meeting.

Anthony Bunbury was in Georgia to participate in the conference "Inclusive and Diverse Elections in the Age of Technology" organized by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID). The meeting between Anthony Bunbury and Giorgi Kalandarishvili took place within the framework of this visit on February 10, in the city of Batumi.
