The Tbilisi Court of Appeal has started considering the case of Giorgi Rurua, one of the founders of "Mtavari Arkhi".

Giorgi Rurua himself did not attend the session held in the Tbilisi Court of Appeal.

The parties made introductory remarks at the trial.

In August 2020, the defense appealed against the guilty verdict handed down by the Tbilisi City Court to Giorgi Rurua. The lawyers demand an acquittal.

For information, Giorgi Rurua, one of the founders of "Mtavari Arkhi", was found guilty by the Tbilisi City Court on July 30, 2020 and sentenced to 4 years in prison.

Giorgi Rurua has been charged under the first part of Article 236 and Article 381 of the Criminal Code, which refers to the illegal purchase, storage and carrying of weapons and failure to comply with an effective judgment or other court decision, or obstructing its execution.

Giorgi Rurua left the penitentiary institution based on the pardon of the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili.

Salome Zurabishvili signed the act of pardoning Rurua on April 27, 2021.
