The Special Investigation Service will also investigate the crimes committed by the prosecutors

The investigative scope of the Special Investigation Service is increasing - the said agency will investigate criminal crimes committed against human life and health, as well as sexual inviolability and human freedom, even if it was committed by a prosecutor.

Corresponding amendments are included in the law "On Special Investigative Service", which was presented to the Parliament by "Georgian Dream" deputies.

In addition, the Special Investigation Service as well as the Personal Data Protection Service are empowered to publish a special report at any time on their own initiative on issues related to the activities of these two agencies and which they consider important.

Within the framework of the same changes, the deadlines for conducting the competition for the candidacy of the head of the special investigation service and the head of the personal data protection service by the competition commission are increased.

According to the project submitted to the Parliament, the consent of the Parliament will be required to start the measures against the heads of the Special Investigation Service and the Personal Data Protection Service under the "Criminal Procedural Code" - with the support of the majority of the full composition.

The initiators of the legislative package are the deputies of the majority: Anri Okhanashvili, Davit Matikashvili, Mikheil Sarjveladze, Aluda Ghudushauri, Rati Ionatamishvili, Aleksandre Tabatadze, Irakli Shatakishvili and Guram Macharashvili.
