According to the information of the capital's mayor, Kakha Kaladze, within the framework of the renovation/rehabilitation project of 12 metro stations, three escalators will be replaced and 30 escalators will be modernized.

As he said at the meeting of the Tbilisi government, the interior of 12 metro stations will be completely renovated, the control and management panels of escalators and electromechanical devices will be replaced.

"As it is known, renovation and rehabilitation of 12 metro stations are planned with the financing of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The bank allocated a total of 55.6 million euros for the implementation of the project.

Within the framework of the project, the interior of 12 metro stations will be completely renovated, three escalators will be replaced and 30 escalators will be modernized, the accessibility of metro stations will be improved for people with disabilities, the drainage, ventilation, fire protection, passenger information and telephone connection systems will be updated, the control and management panels of escalators and electromechanical devices will be replaced, other projects will be prepared for rehabilitation of metro stations.

At this stage, a tender is underway to select a consulting company to support the development of the conceptual design and the procurement of the works. 11 international companies and associations of companies expressed their desire to participate in the tender. At this stage of the tender, the qualification data submitted by the above-mentioned companies are evaluated in order to compile the so-called "Short list" (Short list) and move to the next stage of the tender (review of financial proposals and identification of the winning company).

After the winning company develops the conceptual design and prepares the tender documents, another tender for detailed design and construction/renovation works will be announced. We expect to announce this tender by the end of the year," Kaladze said.
