Dmitry Peskov: Attempts to connect the Georgian draft law on foreign agents with Russia are absurd

Attempts to connect the Georgian draft law on foreign agents with Russia are absurd, - said Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, the first country that came up with a system to fight foreign agents was the United States of America.

"We see a rather sharp reaction of the opposition to such plans. But perhaps we should explain to them the absurdity of trying to consider it a Russian project. It is a fact that the first country that came up with a system of fighting foreign agents was the United States of America, and now almost all countries are fighting them, those who are agents of a foreign state, receive money or are under the influence of foreign states," said Dmitry Peskov.

He noted that Russia is interested in maintaining a stable situation in Georgia.

"Georgia is our neighbor. It is in our interests to have a stable and predictable situation in Georgia," the Kremlin Spokesman said.

For information, the draft law "On transparency of foreign influence" was re-introduced in the Parliament yesterday.
