According to Vashadze, the government re-introduced the law in order to prevent Georgia from joining the European Union.

"Last year, we celebrated the victory of the Georgian people, when Georgia received the candidate status for the European Union. Yes, by repelling of Russian law that Ivanishvili's party introduced last year, the Georgian people won and defeated Ivanishvili's party.

And today from here we tell them that we will not back down, we will fight for Georgia to win.

We will fight for Georgia to become a member of the European Union, we will fight for the Russian law to never determine our fate in Georgia. We will fight for the people to win.

Last year the Georgian people won and this year we will definitely win the final victory over Ivanishvili's anti-Georgian force.
