Levan Khabeishvili: Today we saw the German Chancellor's clear position that this law is incompatible with the EU – this law means going against the citizens of Georgia, against the civilized world, so withdraw it

Today we saw the German Chancellor's clear position that this law is incompatible with the European Union - if anyone in the government still has a sense, they should withdraw this law, - National Movement Chairman Levan Khabeishvili said at the briefing.

According to him, no one needs the law "On transparency of foreign influence" and the Georgian people have a completely different order towards the government.

"The Georgian people did not deserve aggressive language from Ivanishvili's government, threats that they will pass the Russian law anyway. They want to scare the Georgian people. Unfortunately for me, these days I see how government officials attack public figures, athletes, actors, dancers, journalists. Today we saw the clear position of the German Chancellor that this law is incompatible with the EU and that the EU and Germany expect that this law will not be adopted. Therefore, it is very important for the government to understand that going against the citizens of Georgia, against the civilized world, is not the demand of the Georgian people. Nor did the Georgian people ask to talk to the EU member states with an ultimatum, the Georgian people ask for economic well-being, security and development. If Ivanishvili's government adopts this law, what will happen? Will there be a lot of jobs? Will prices drop? Will fuel become cheaper? Will there be lower utility bills? Will our citizens no longer emigrate? This will not happen, it is not being done for the well-being of Georgian citizens, it is being done only for the sole purpose of twisting people's hands, to intimidate them, to adopt the Russian law, to fulfil the order of the Russian authorities. Obviously, this is not the order of the citizens of Georgia, therefore, if anyone in the government has any sense, they should withdraw this law.

The elections are approaching. Give the Georgian people the opportunity to make their choice calmly. Days, weeks should be spent taking care of people, solving people's problems, so that they have less taxes, that they have more payment, that they don't run away to emigrate, so that a demographic catastrophe does not happen in the country and the birth rate does not decrease. These are topics that worry Georgian people on a daily basis. Therefore, today's statement of the Chancellor of Germany should at least make the majority members think, this law is not needed by anyone, this law is not needed by the Georgian people, this law was not ordered by the Georgian people, so withdraw this law and give the citizens of Georgia the opportunity to live peacefully and make a choice", said Levan Khabeishvili.
