Lazare Grigoriadis' lawyer: it is not known when the president will sign the pardon document - if not today, in my opinion, the process will be postponed until Monday

The human rights defenders of Lazare Grigoriadis, who was convicted in the case of violating the health of policemen and destroying state property, are waiting for the president to issue a pardon act.

For Grigoriadis's lawyer, Lika Bitadze, it is not known at this stage when exactly the president will sign the amnesty document, after which the prisoner should be released from the penitentiary immediately.

"There is nothing yet. If it is not today, I think it will be postponed until Monday. We do not know exactly what the procedures are and what they expect. As a rule, they should be sent electronically and released immediately," Bitadze told Interpressnews.

We remind you that yesterday, the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, announced that she will pardon 21-year-old Lazare Grigoriadis, who was convicted of violating the health of police officers and destroying state property during the March protests. The court found Grigoriadis guilty and sentenced him to nine years of imprisonment.
