Shalva Papuashvili: Parliament was elected by the Georgian people to adopt Georgian laws and this Parliament adopts these laws

The Parliament was elected by the Georgian people to adopt Georgian laws, and this Parliament adopts these laws. When they forbid the Parliament and indicate without arguments what it should accept and what should not accept, this is certainly not correct, - said the Chairman of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili.

According to him, the representative of the Georgian people is the Parliament of Georgia and "what we see today from some radical groups, including some foreign actors, is an attempt to prevent the Parliament from fulfilling its legislative and representative powers."

"We saw yesterday that there is an attempt to block all discussion. Instead of reasoning, we see slogans and there is a desire to shout to drown out reasoning. This is the clearest example of dogmatism, when the only argument is that we were told "no" from abroad. It is significant that yesterday "National Movement" was talking about holding a plebiscite and I asked Khabeishvili what would happen if people support the law through a plebiscite, then it doesn't matter what they say from abroad? This was not the starting point. I am surprised when members of parliament have such an attitude towards the people's mandate. They are the representatives of the people - both the opposition and the majority. The representative of the people is the Parliament of Georgia, and today what we see from some radical groups, including some foreign actors, is an attempt to prevent the Parliament from fulfilling its legislative and representative powers. The Parliament was elected by the Georgian people to adopt Georgian laws, and this Parliament adopts these laws. When they forbid it and indicate without arguments what to accept and what not to accept, this is certainly not correct", said Shalva Papuashvili.
