Michael Galler: There are obligations that the government of Georgia has taken and which are being blatantly violated by reintroducing the law - we demand the release of Saakashvili and the imposition of sanctions on Ivanishvili

There are obligations that the government of Georgia has taken and which are grossly violated by re-introduction of this law. MEP Michael Galler announced this during his speech at the plenary session of the European Parliament.

"There are commitments that the government of Georgia has taken and that are being blatantly violated by reintroducing this law, but my impression is that if this is about 'foreign agents', the only 'foreign agents' involved are those in the ruling party who are copying Russian laws and They are promoting Russia's style of governance, and maybe on their [Russia's] behalf.

I look at Prime Minister Kobakhidze. Not long ago they were still in the [European] Social Democratic group and were being complimented for the right reasons. And meanwhile they were going to Budapest for a far-right conference and were speakers with Mr. Wilders and others.

So I really wonder where this country is going and where its ruling party is going. We support the will of the people and are in complete solidarity with the demonstrators holding Georgian and European flags.

And once again we demand the release of Misha Saakashvili and the imposition of sanctions on Mr. Ivanishvili, because he is the one who is "in the background" but actually manages the agenda there [in Georgia]," Galler said.
