Irakli Gharibashvili: Everyone should be happy that China expressed an interest in the strategic port – Khazaradze’s project was a complete fiasco!

How can a person who ruined the Anaklia project talk about the Anaklia port project. I mean Mamuka Khazaradze! His project was a complete fiasco! - Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Gharibashvili said while talking about the Anaklia port project.

According to Irakli Gharibashvili, everyone should be happy that China expressed an interest in the strategic port. As for western investments, according to Gharibashvili, despite numerous calls to foreign partners, unfortunately, no western company expressed an interest.

"We are well aware that in terms of the development of this [Middle] Corridor, China's participation is of crucial importance. Despite our many calls to foreign partners, unfortunately, no western company expressed an interest.

I want to remind our opponents, how can a person who ruined the Anaklia project talk about the Anaklia port project. I mean Mamuka Khazaradze! Khazaradze abandoned this project, he could not build the port. 5-6 years passed, the state was waiting and he could not bring funding. As far as I know, he spent 3 million dollars, invested by others. His project was a complete fiasco! After that, the man left and today he owes the country 1 billion 500 million dollars”, said Gharibashvili.

According to him, the US and Europe have economic activity and trade with China.

“We see many top European leaders visit China and the visit of the Chinese President to France and the heart of Europe. This is normal. We should use every situation for our country. If there is any contract with China, the US, Europe and it benefits our country, everything is welcome," Gharibashvili said.
