The ambassadors of the EU member states have agreed on the framework of the accession negotiations for Ukraine and Moldova, the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union has announced.
The said decision of the permanent representatives (ambassadors) of the EU member states means that on June 25, as planned, an intergovernmental conference will be held, which will give an official start to the negotiations on the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the EU.
For information, the end of June has long been the expected date of the mentioned intergovernmental conference, although Hungary blocked the mentioned decision at the level of permanent representatives. If Hungary did not change its position, the opening of negotiations could be delayed until the second half of 2024, when Budapest holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union.
