Nikoloz Samkharadze: Negotiations have been going on for years in the Geneva International Discussions format, but the peace process still cannot be regulated

The Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and the head of the Georgian delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Nikoloz Samkharadze, is participating in the 31st annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Bucharest.

According to the press service of the Parliament of Georgia, Nikoloz Samkharadze addressed the Political Affairs and Security Committee of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

He spoke about the security environment in Georgia and the existing challenges. The Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee noted that 20% of the country's territory is still occupied by Russia and up to 300,000 people are displaced.

He also emphasized that some of the member states of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly still do not use the term "occupation".

"Negotiations have been going on for years in the Geneva International Discussions format, including under the co-chairmanship of the OSCE, but the peace process still cannot be regulated," said Nikoloz Samkharadze during his speech.

In addition, according to the press service of the Parliament of Georgia, at the end of the speech, the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee called on the international community to take more action on this issue.
