Prosecutorial Council selects three candidates for Prosecutor General’s position

The Prosecutorial Council, in accordance with Article 4 of the "Rules for the Selection of Candidates for the Position of the Prosecutor General of Georgia", held a vote for the selection of candidates.

According to the Council, in accordance with Article 16 of the Organic Law of Georgia "On the Prosecutor's Office", three candidates - Viktor Akhalbedashvili, Darejan Butskhrikidze and Giorgi Gabitashvili – have been selected.

"The results of the voting for the candidates for the Prosecutor General of Georgia are as follows: Viktor Akhalbedashvili - 9 votes, Davit Barbakadze - 1 vote, Lali Bunturi - 0 votes, Darejan Butskhrikidze - 10 votes, Giorgi Gabitashvili - 11 votes, Aleksandre Kobaidze - 0 votes, Andronik Saribekov - 1 vote.

According to the mentioned data, in accordance with Article 16 of the Organic Law of Georgia "On the Prosecutor's Office", three candidates - Viktor Akhalbedashvili, Darejan Butskhrikidze and Giorgi Gabitashvili – have been selected.

On July 11, at 11:00 a.m., candidates will be voted for separately at the session of the Prosecutorial Council. Voting will be secret. The candidate who receives more votes, but not less than two-thirds of the full composition of the Council, shall be considered elected.

In order to ensure transparency, the voting process will be broadcast live on the Facebook page of the Prosecutorial Council," reads the information.
