They plan to slow down YouTube by 70% in Russia

They plan to slow down YouTube by 70% in Russia. This was announced by the Chairman of the Union and IT Committee of the Russian State Duma, Alexander Khinshtein.

According to him, by the end of this week, the work of YouTube on desktop computers may slow down by 40%, and by the end of next week - by 70%.

According to Khinshtein, the mentioned measure "will only apply to the desktop versions, but not yet to the mobile connection." According to the Russian state publication Kommersant, this is due to the fact that the slowdown equipment cannot analyze the traffic of mobile networks.

According to Khinstein, the "degradation" of YouTube is a step taken against the administration of foreign resources, not against Russian citizens.
