The opposition Members of Parliament stand surety for Omar Okribelashvili and Saba Meparishvili, who were arrested during the protest rallies against the law "On transparency of foreign influence".
The personal surety application, which will be presented to the judge, has already been signed by the deputies - Levan Bezhashvili, Ana Natsvlishvili and Teona Akubardia.
The signing process will continue in the Parliament until July 29.
According to the opposition, these people have been in prison for several months, while the charges brought against them have not been proven.
Omar Okribelashvili and Saba Mefarishvili are charged with group damage and destruction of other people's property.
19 and 23-year-old young persons were arrested by the law enforcement officers on May 14. They were charged under Article 187, Part 2, Sub-paragraph "c" of the Criminal Code, which pertains to damaging an object in a group. According to the investigation, the defendants, along with other persons, deliberately damaged the iron protective dam located at the entrance of the Parliament, using both physical force and an iron object.
Tbilisi City Court sent both detainees to pre-trial detention.
