International Judo Federation: Guram Tushishvili is banned from participating in any international judo competition until the Disciplinary Commission makes a final decision

The Disciplinary Commission of the International Judo Federation responds to the incident at the end of the quarterfinals between Teddy Riner and Guram Tushishvili in the +100 kg weight category.

According to the disciplinary commission, the behavior of the Georgian judoka was against the spirit of judo.

As a result, Tushishvili is prohibited from participating in any international judo competition until the disciplinary commission of the International Judo Federation makes a final decision.

"After the incident at the end of the quarter-finals between Teddy Riner and Guram Tushishvili in the +100 kg weight category, the behavior of the Georgian judoka was against the "spirit of judo". In order to study the situation, the temporary disciplinary commission convened as a matter of urgency.

As a result, the following decisions were made:

Guram Tushishvili was removed from the individual competition and will not be allowed to participate in the repechage.

Guram Tushishvili was also removed from participation in the mixed team competition scheduled for August 3, 2024.

Guram Tushishvili is banned from participating in any international judo competition until the International Judo Federation's Disciplinary Commission makes a final decision. Further investigation will be conducted to determine the incident.
