Fuel quality checks are regularly carried out at gas stations in order to minimize the consumption of unconditioned fuel, which, in turn, significantly reduces the emission of harmful substances into the ambient air. In addition, in 4 big cities of Georgia - Tbilisi, Rustavi, Kutaisi and Batumi, from September 4, 2023, the emission control of moving motor vehicles is in progress.

From the enactment of the law until August 4, 2024, a total of 6,683 legal entities and individuals were fined by the crews of the Department of Environmental Supervision for non-compliance with the established emission norms of motor vehicles.

The most - 3177 violations were recorded in Tbilisi, 1330 - in Kutaisi, 1145 - in Batumi, 1031 - in the city of Rustavi.

Of the 6,683 offenders fined by the employees of the Department of Environmental Supervision, 5,832 are individuals, and 851 are legal entities.

4142 penalty receipts have been drawn up for car drivers, 2256 for minibus drivers, 277 for truck drivers, and 8 for bus drivers.

In the case of a natural person, the amount of the fine is 100 GEL for the first time, 300 GEL for the second time, and 600 GEL for the third time, for non-compliance with the norms established by the vehicle emission legislation. In the case of a legal entity, the fine is 500, 1500 and 3000 GEL, respectively. If the fine is paid within 10 days, the amount of the fine will be reduced by 20%.
