Givi Macharashvili won a silver medal at the Olympics

Freestyle wrestler Givi Macharshvili (97 kg) won a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Macharashvili, who competed on behalf of the country of Bahrain, was defeated by his opponent from Dagestan, Akhmed Tazhudinov.

Before that, the Georgian wrestler defeated Magomedkhan Magomedov from Dagestan in the semi-finals, competing on behalf of Azerbaijan.

Currently, Georgia has 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals.

Judoka Lasha Bekauri became a two-time Olympic champion. He defeated the Japanese Sanshiro Murao in the final and brought the first gold medal to the Georgian national team. Geno Petriashvili won the second gold medal for the Georgian national team. As for the third gold medal, it was won by weightlifter Lasha Talakhadze.
