Today is the birthday of the national hero of Georgia Giorgi Antsukhelidze. Giorgi Antsukhelidze, a serviceman of the Georgian Armed Forces, junior sergeant of the 4th Infantry Brigade's 41st Battalion, was tortured to death by the occupying forces in Tskhinvali in August 2008. Antsukhelidze's body was moved from Tskhinvali in November 2008. In 2009, video footage of his torture was released on the Internet. After his death Giorgi Antsukhelidze was awarded the title of national hero of Georgia.
