CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov, was arrested at the French airport

French police arrested Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov at Paris airport.

According to the BBC, Durov was arrested after his private plane landed at Le Bourget airport.

The 39-year-old billionaire is reportedly accused of failing to take steps to stop the criminal use of Telegram.

Pavel Durov was born in Russia and lives in Dubai. He has dual citizenship of the United Arab Emirates and France.

The Telegram app was banned in Russia in 2018 after Durov refused to hand over user data. The ban was lifted in 2021.
