Nikoloz Samkharadze: Until Michael Roth apologizes, we will not meet him

Michael Roth insulted the Georgian Church, Georgian people, "Georgian Dream" and even Georgian football players - we do not meet Roth for this very reason, and we will not meet him until he apologizes, Nikoloz Samkharadze, the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament, told journalists about this.

Speaking about the visit of the chairman of the foreign affairs committee of the German Bundestag to Georgia, Samkharadze noted that "we are proud, self-respecting people, and when a foreign politician comes to the country, they should not allow themselves to be insulted."

"Let's ignore the fact that he was at a rally organized by the opposition and supported the opposition's aspirations there, which is interference in Georgia's internal affairs. This is the least of the troubles. The most important thing was that he insulted us, our people and the church with his statements.

I am very interested, if the representatives of the opposition sit down at the meeting, if they are going to ask him to apologize for the statements made.

I will remind you, Roth said that Orthodoxy is darkness, together with Orthodoxy, Georgia and its youth will not have a future in the European Union. He also said that the "Georgian dream" is a Georgian nightmare and the Russian government. Roth also said about the Georgian football players that it is shameful that they took the money from the "Kartu" fund.

Whoever says this publicly, I don't see any point in meeting him - criticism is one thing, insults are another. Those who make critical statements, we sit down with them and continue the discussion, because criticism is normal when you talk to partners. Therefore, we are not fighting criticism, but insults," said Nikoloz Samkharadze.
