Giorgi Amilakhvari, the former Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, has announced that after leaving his post, he plans to return to the private sector. During a briefing, Amilakhvari stated that he had requested the Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, and other team leaders to allow him to step back after four years of continuous public service.
"As you know, I joined the parliamentary team of 'Georgian Dream' in 2020. Since then, I have dedicated myself to serving our country and advancing Georgian education, whether in Parliament or as Minister. After these four years of effort, I asked the Prime Minister and team leaders to give me the chance to return to the private sector and continue supporting our team from there," Amilakhvari said.
He highlighted his successful background in the education business prior to his entry into politics and expressed pride in the achievements made during his time in office. He thanked Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, his team, and Bidzina Ivanishvili for their trust and support throughout his service.
Amilakhvari was appointed as Minister of Education, Science, and Youth on March 20, 2023, replacing Mikheil Chkhenkeli, and had been serving in this role until his resignation.
