According to the chairman of the Central Election Commission, Giorgi Kalandarishvili, on the election day of October 26, a total of 15,000 machines were used, of which only 20 machines were out of order.
As he noted at today's briefing, despite the breakdown of the machines, there was no need to switch to the traditional method of the voting process at the precincts.
"The introduction of electronic technologies in the election process in Georgia was successfully implemented. Almost two years of tireless work of the election administration has yielded appropriate results. Today we are proud to announce that our planning and organization of the process was conducted correctly at all stages. On the election day of October 26, a total of 15,000 machines were used, of which only 20 machines were out of order. Despite this, in all cases it was possible to continue the election process using technology, and there was no need to switch to the traditional voting method at any polling station.
According to the existing good practice, a good result of the use of technologies is considered if 1% of the machines are out of order during the election process. In our case, this number was 0.1%, which is a very good indicator. I would like to thank each employee of the election administration for their activities, contribution to the process of modernization of elections and administration at a high professional level.
The proper operation of electronic technologies was confirmed by an international auditing company. We have officially submitted the results of the first and second phase audits, where they are unambiguously confirmed, and once the documents are translated, they will be publicly available to all parties involved. Among them, the manipulatively raised issue was the duplication of lists in the unified voter lists, especially in the verification part. This is at least as unreasonable as under a paper trail, when lists were fully auditable and voter lists were printed from all verification machines and available to all concerned. Today, the American company confirmed this once again, pointing out that the technologies responded to local legislation and international good practices and standards. I would like to thank all involved parties, monitoring organizations, media, and those agencies that cooperate with us in the process of organizing the elections. Voters also easily adapted to the election technologies, which proves the effectiveness of the campaign to inform the election administration, which we started a year and a half before the elections. I would like to thank the voters for their activity and high civic responsibility," Kalandarishvili said.
