The commission's recommendations of last year were not implemented and remain in force. Next year, Georgia should repeal the law "On transparency of foreign influence", - this is mentioned in the part of the enlargement report published by the European Commission, which deals with basic human rights.
According to the document, Georgia should adopt national strategies to fight against all forms of hatred and discrimination and to protect ethnic and religious minorities, strengthen the implementation of anti-discrimination legislation, take more decisive measures against and prevent hate speech and hate crimes.
"Georgia should cancel the legislative package "On family values and protection of minors"; Investigate and prosecute the organizers of the violence at Tbilisi Pride on July 5, 2021 and July 8, 2023, amend the National Human Rights Strategy and Action Plan to ensure full protection of the rights of LGBTIQ persons; to ensure full respect and protection of freedom of assembly and expression," the document states.
