According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, the government took into account the call of the American and European partners to investigate the parliamentary elections, but President Salome Zurabishvili did not come to the prosecutor's office and "everyone should draw their own conclusions".
With this, Kobakhidze responded to Charles Michel's statement that there are doubts regarding the fraud of the elections held in Georgia, which requires an investigation. As Kobakhidze said, he spoke with Charles Michel and provided him with information.
"I had a conversation with Charles Michel about everything, including explaining to him that a number of subjects were asking for an investigation. I reminded Boreli and also the statement of the State Department, where they talked about the national investigation - the investigation to be conducted by the Georgian constitutional bodies. I explained to him [Michel] that CEC has applied to the Prosecutor's Office. The next day, the prosecutor's office started an investigation on the subject of the elections. Then Salome Zurabishvili was summoned to the prosecutor's office for questioning. Then there was the call of the State Department to Zurabishvili to cooperate with the prosecutor's office, but Zurabishvili refused. We followed the call we heard from both the United States of America and the European Union. Actually, we took into account the call of the American and European partners, however, Salome Zurabishvili, who is one of the figures of the opposition, does not consider this call at all. Everyone should draw their own conclusions. In this regard, I explained to Charles Michel, he listened and probably will draw conclusions", said Irakli Kobakhidze.
The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, before the informal meeting of the leaders of the EU member states in Budapest, told journalists in response to a question related to the elections held in Georgia, that there are serious doubts regarding fraud in the elections held in Georgia, which requires an investigation. According to him, clarity is needed regarding this process.
