Adgur Ardzinba: We are aware of the danger of the penetration of the Georgian oligarchy

We are aware of the danger of the penetration of the Georgian oligarchy, one of the leaders of the opposition of occupied Abkhazia, Adgur Ardzinba, said in an interview with the Russian media.

"It should be noted that we are aware of the danger of Georgian oligarchy entering us. Taking into account that Mr. Bzhania brought several Georgian MPs to Abkhazia secretly and, according to our information, he was actively communicating with the representatives of the Georgian diaspora in Russia. We should also remember that Mr. Bzhania had nothing to do with the armed struggle of our people during the war with Georgia in the 1990s. It appeared in Abkhazia's politics only in 2010, after Russia recognized our independence," said Adgur Ardzinba.

According to him, "Georgian Dream" has been in power for quite a long time, since 2012, but no real steps have been taken to fundamentally regulate relations.

"There is a law on the so-called occupied territories, which creates serious difficulties for foreign investments, foreign economic relations and normal business operations in our country. For example, one can start by repealing this law.

It is true that Georgia has not imposed sanctions against Russia in this regard, but recent history proves that their government can perform quite dramatic maneuvers. Let us remind you that the official course of Tbilisi, even under the conditions of the governing "Georgian Dream", which is fixed in the constitution, is the course towards European and North Atlantic integration. We, our people, Georgia and Abkhazia have been neighbors for hundreds of years, believe me, we know what we are talking about. At the same time, our position is clear, we are an independent state. "Any step towards reconciliation and normalization of relations should start with this simple step, with the recognition of historical and actual reality," said Adgur Ardzinba.
