Salome Zurabishvili: Protests and repressions continue in Tbilisi - I expect a strong reaction from European capitals

Protests and repressions continue in the center of Tbilisi. Journalists and political leaders are being attacked - this is how Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili responded to the events taking place on Rustaveli Avenue, where law enforcement officers dispersed the protesters several times with water cannons and tear gas.

"I expect a strong reaction from European capitals," President Zurabishvili wrote.

We remind you that on November 28, protests began in Tbilisi after Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced the decision of the ruling team that Georgia will not put the issue of opening negotiations with the European Union on the agenda until the end of 2028. The participants of the rally gathered in two locations in Tbilisi - on Gorgasli Street, near the office of "Georgian Dream" and on Rustaveli Avenue, near the parliament building. Later, the rally converged in front of the Parliament, where the situation between the law enforcement officers and the participants of the rally became tense many times. Around 2:00 am, after warning the demonstrators, the police started to break up the rally on Rustaveli Avenue. The special forces used water cannons and special means against the protesters many times.

It is not yet known how many people were arrested and how many were injured during the protest.
