Giorgi Gakharia: We have a reasonable suspicion that the people behind the masks who are particularly cruel are members of informal groups and do not belong to the Ministry of Internal Affairs - we urge you to remove the masks from these criminals

We have a well-founded suspicion that the people behind the masks who are particularly cruel are members of various informal groups and do not belong to the police units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to him, people wearing masks seem to be guaranteed impunity.

He calls on Bidzina Ivanishvili to immediately stop the "cruelty and violence on the streets of Tbilisi" and asks the Ministry of Health to release complete information on the number and location of people affected in the last five nights.

"Unprovoked violence against civilians, young people, and women has already taken on a dangerous form in the last five nights, and last night was particularly brutal.

Unfortunately for us, people hiding behind masks have been abusing our fellow citizens on the streets of Tbilisi for the fifth night and they do it with extreme brutality.

This heinous crime committed today by people dressed in police uniforms, of course, cannot go unpunished. We have a reasonable suspicion that the people behind the masks who are particularly brutal are members of various informal groups and do not belong to the police units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Several members of our team were beaten with extreme cruelty yesterday, two of them are in a medical facility, two are in a pre-trial detention center, and such cases do not concern only members of our team. There are young people, victims, whose physical health condition is the worst, and no one knows how many of these people there are, where they are today, and what their health condition is.

Unfortunately, masked people seem to be guaranteed impunity, and they go on the rampage of violence and violence as they take personal belongings, phones, bags, etc. from the victimized and beaten person.

I would like to call on Ivanishvili to immediately stop this cruelty and violence against young people on the streets of Tbilisi, especially at night, while the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs should be providing special protection. I urge you to unmask these bullies. The mask and guarantee of impunity is what makes them more cruel.

I would like to call on the Ministry of Health, finally, to provide us with complete information about the number and location of people affected during the last five nights, and I also call on the Ministry of Internal Affairs to provide us with information on the whereabouts of those people who have been transferred to pre-trial detention centers throughout Georgia. What is their status, when will they be taken to court or how can we contact them.

What has been going on for the last five nights is complete disorder, lawlessness and violence of exceptional brutality, it is destroying the police. If the police do not have the moral and legal ability and right to protect order in our streets, we will reach complete chaos, and this chaos will be the responsibility of the ruling force from the beginning to the end", said Giorgi Gakharia.

At the same time, Giorgi Gakharia calls Irakli Kobakhidze abnormal and when asked if he is ready for a public discussion with him, he says that Kobakhidze should go to the doctor first.

"Regarding the abnormal, I neither make a statement nor comment. What comment should I make? Abnormal is standing and talking some nonsense. To the doctor, to the doctor first and then. After 1-2 years, maybe he will come into condition", said Gakharia.
